New books
Is She Still Alive?, Tessa‘s first adult fiction, was published by HarperCollins in May 2008 and very quickly moved onto the New Zealand Best-seller List. It was Number 2 for many weeks, dropping to Number 3 before its final exu\ist after a total of eleven weeks. The book is a collection of thirteen short stories, two close to novella length, about women of ‘a certain age.’

New books
Three anthologies featuring stories by Tessa Duder appeared during 2007.
Out of the Deep – stories from New Zealand and the Pacific. Edited by Tessa Duder and Lorraine Orman and illustrated by Bruce Potter, this anthology was published by Reed Publishing in association with Storylines Children’s Literature Trust. Tessa’s story is ‘A Perfect Picnic.’
Dare and Double Dare – 30 New Zealand Sports Stories, edited by Barbara Else, illustrated by David Elliot, published by Random House New Zealand. Tessa’s contribution, about school rugby, is ‘The Whistle Blower.’
You’re the Best! – stories about friendship, edited by Belinda Hollyer, published by Kingfisher UK and USA. Tessa’s story is ‘Taking Flight.’
‘Beach Theatre’, an adult short story, appeared in the Detours section of the Herald on Sunday on January 20, 2008.
September 2008
To Copenhagen
Between 7 – 10 September, Tessa is representing Storylines/IBBY NZ, presenting a short paper, at the 31st World Congress of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) at Copenhagen. Her paper ‘Learning the trick of standing upright – the explosion of children’s literature in New Zealand since 1980’ will be published on this website in September 2008

To the Antarctic!
Tessa was one of three lucky Artists who travelled to Scott Base under the Artists to Antarctica scheme sponsored by Antarctica New Zealand and Creative New Zealand.
